The finish

Scheffler completed 72 holes in 264 strokes, 16 under par. His rounds of 65, 67 and 66 left him at 12 under through Saturday, three behind Hovland, whose opening rounds of 64, 66 and 65 put him at 15 under.

Scheffler closed with another 66. Hovland shot 72 and finished alone in second at 13 under, three strokes back. Ryan Gerard finished third at 12 under. No playoff was required.

The Arc

Saturday created the setup: Hovland held the 54-hole lead, while Scheffler shared the group three shots behind. Sunday reversed that separation.

Scheffler erased the deficit early, and the two traded the lead across the front nine and early back nine. The final turn came late. Hovland’s bogey at the 13th moved him away from the lead; Scheffler’s birdie at the 16th expanded his advantage; Hovland’s bogey at the 17th left Scheffler room to close with par.

The week’s shape was not a four-day runaway. It was a crowded tournament that narrowed to two players, then broke toward the one who began Sunday three behind and played the final round six strokes better than the 54-hole leader.

What the pre-event board saw

The liveslip.ai pre-event estimates as of Aug. 24, 2026 at 21:25:16 UTC made Scheffler the field’s clearest individual favorite at 17.88% to win. He began first on the 30-player board by win estimate and finished first on the course.

The same board placed Hovland 15th by win estimate at 2.84% and Gerard 16th at 2.25%. They finished second and third. The result therefore held both sides of an honest probability read: the favorite converted, while two players from the middle of the estimate board supplied the closest chase.
