TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP · PRE-TOURNAMENT READ
The Read: TOUR Championship
Thirty players arrive at East Lake on even terms. The final event of the FedExCup Playoffs is a straight 72-hole test, and the liveslip.ai board maps the pre-tournament picture before the first tee.
Pre-event win, top-finish, and make-cut estimates.
The setup
All 30 begin at even par. There are no starting strokes and no cut; the tournament is decided over 72 holes of stroke play.
The week and weather
The TOUR Championship runs Aug. 27–30 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. The course is listed at par 70 and 7,440 yards.
What’s at stake
The event carries a $40 million official-money purse, including $10 million for the winner, and the tournament winner also wins the FedExCup.
The field is limited to the top 30 players who advanced after the BMW Championship.
The board — win-probability before the first tee
Scottie Scheffler opens with the highest win estimate on the board at 17.88%. Rory McIlroy follows at 7.63%, with Xander Schauffele at 5.90% and Ludvig Åberg at 5.51%. No other player begins above 5%.
That gap makes Scheffler the clearest single favorite in the estimates, not a guaranteed winner. The other 29 players collectively carry most of the board’s win probability, and the compact field gives every finishing tier a different shape from a standard full-field event.
Pre-event estimates as of Aug. 24, 2026 at 21:25:16 UTC. Percentages are rounded to two decimal places for display. “Make cut” is 100% throughout the board because the TOUR Championship has no cut.

Three things to watch
Does the favorite create separation?
Scheffler’s 17.88% win estimate is more than twice McIlroy’s 7.63%, but it is still well below 50%. The board makes him the most likely individual winner while leaving substantial room for the field.
Who converts top-20 strength into a real run?
The middle of the board is compressed. Players from Cantlay through Hovland sit between 69% and 76% to finish in the top 20, while their win estimates range from 2.84% to 4.28%. That difference is a reminder that contending and winning are separate thresholds.
What changes when nobody starts ahead?
The field starts even, so the opening leaderboard is earned on the course rather than inherited through starting strokes. The first-round scores will establish the event’s first real separation.
The field, dates, venue, format and purse were checked against official event materials on Aug. 25, 2026. The probability estimates are dated Aug. 24, 2026 at 21:25:16 UTC, before the first tee. Percentages are estimates, not odds or promises.
